Le commandant adjoint de la Flotte russe de la mer Noire, Andreï Paliï, a été tué dans les combats entre forces russes et ukrainiennes près de Marioupol, en Ukraine, ont annoncé dimanche des responsables russes.
Cette ville de la péninsule ukrainienne de Crimée, annexée en 2014 par la Russie, est le port d’attache de la Flotte russe de la mer Noire. Selon un représentant russe, Andreï Paliï était un « vrai officier issu d’une dynastie militaire » qui jouissait d’une « grande autorité sur la flotte » russe. Il aurait péri samedi dans les affrontements autour de Marioupol, une ville portuaire stratégique du sud-est de l’Ukraine assiégée par l’armée russe depuis plusieurs semaines.
Selon les médias russes, Andreï Paliï a été en 2020 commandant adjoint des forces russes en Syrie où la Russie intervient militairement depuis septembre 2015 en soutien aux forces du régime de Bachar al-Assad.
