Ukraine : le risque de guérilla, un cauchemar pour Poutine !

Une victoire militaire de la Russie en Ukraine pourrait n’être que le début des ennuis pour le président russe.

Au troisième jour de son invasion, l’armée russe resserre son étau sur l’Ukraine. Les combats ont gagné ce vendredi 25 février la périphérie de Kiev, tandis que, dans le reste du pays, les troupes russes ont atteint d’autres grandes villes comme Kramatorsk (est), Kharkiv (nord-est) ou Marioupol, le principal port de l’est du pays. « Les forces font tout leur possible » pour défendre l’Ukraine, a martelé le président ukrainien Volodymyr Zelensky, qui avait décrété, la veille, la mobilisation générale pour contrer la progression russe.

Si l’incontestable supériorité de l’armée russe interroge sur la capacité des troupes ukrainiennes à faire face durablement, une victoire militaire de Moscou pourrait n’être que le début des ennuis pour Poutine. «Il ne faut pas sous-estimer la volonté des Ukrainiens de se battre et leur capacité de riposte individuelle, souligne Mathieu Boulègue, chercheur spécialiste de l’Eurasie à la Chatham House, un think tank londonien. Les Ukrainiens ne lâcheront pas leur territoire et sont prêts à mourir pour le défendre. »

Comme l’ont appris à leurs dépens les Etats-Unis en Afghanistan, envahir un pays et renverser son gouvernement est une chose, mais le contrôler en est une autre. A fortiori l’Ukraine, deuxième plus grand pays d’Europe après la Russie et peuplé de 42 millions d’habitants. Un sondage réalisé en décembre 2021 montrait qu’un Ukrainien sur trois serait prêt à prendre les armes contre une invasion russe. Et 21,7% de la population se dit encline à rejoindre un mouvement de résistance civile.
